Toray Advanced Composites announced that it has increased its capabilities for thermoplastic composites for high-performance applications and commissioned a new generation of high-temperature laminators at its Nijverdal (Netherlands) plant.
Laminates made using high-temperature laminators are 50% larger than existing laminates in this performance category, bringing unique capabilities to the composites market. The increase in size has expanded the use of high-performance thermoplastic composites to include larger component geometries in aerospace and industrial applications.
Toray Cetex® laminates are fully consolidated in the press, eliminating the need for secondary layup and consolidation stages, enabling the cost-effective mass production of high-performance, high-quality thermoplastic composite parts. Toray Cetex® reinforced thermoplastic laminate, also known as "organic board" in the industry, undergoes rigorous quality inspections to ensure that the voids are almost zero.

Like the existing Toray Cetex® reinforced thermoplastic laminate, the direction, thickness and reinforcement of the laminate can be customized according to the specifications of the end application customer. Additional features, such as protection against electrochemical corrosion and lightning strikes, can also be integrated into the laminate at the consolidation point to provide further processing and performance advantages.
